Take Action - Federal Stimulus for Bike/Ped

119 people have written letters so far. We need at least 100 to make a difference.

Kansas City is currently considering which transportation projects to include in an applicaton for federal stimulus funds. City staff has produced an ambitious bike/ped plan that would transform the city's transportaton system - it includes things like bike lanes, trails, crosswalks, ADA improvements, sidewalks, and a big education campaign. (Read more about the plan)

Please ask the City Council and regional Congressional leaders to include bicycles and pedestrians in the city's application for federal transportation stimulus funding (called TIGER).

  • Bike/Ped provides low-cost transportation options for people dealing with the recession.
  • This is a once in a lifetime chance to transform the cit's transportation system to be more inclusive and sustainable.
  • The city has made many bike/ped/trail plans, and this an opportunity to fund them.
  • Cities around the country are using bicycling and walking facilities to attract new businesses and residents.
