Plaza lighting ceremony bus service
Avoid the congestion and parking hassles at Thursday night’s Plaza lighting ceremony by taking the bus instead of driving. The Country Club Plaza is well served by transit, and the KC Area Transportation Authority will double MAX service for the event.
MAX will run every 15 minutes from 4:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. If it gets too crowded, remember that the #57 South Oak bus runs almost the same route and serves many MAX stations. This bus will run every 30 minutes. (here is the #57 map and schedule). Expect for a 20-30 minute trip. Bus fare is $1.25 each way.
Park and Ride - if you don’t live near one of these bus lines or a connecting route, then take advantage of a park and ride lot. The Downtown lot is located on the northwest corner of 3rd and Grand, catty-corner from the City Market. This is a good choice for Northlanders and folks driving in from the I-70 corridor. The Waldo lot is located at 74th and Wornall, and is the best bet for southtowners and Johnson Countians. Both lots are served by the MAX and #57 South Oak routes.
Holiday service – If your trip includes a bus route other than the two above, keep in mind that it will be running a Sunday/holiday schedule. That means it will be running less frequently or not at all. Be sure to check the schedule in advance.
