Lee’s Summit adds fourth bus to Downtown KCMO

Today the KC Area Transportation Authority adds a fourth rush hour Metro bus between Lee’s Summit and Downtown Kansas City.  The City of Lee’s Summit is paying for the fourth bus trip to alleviate overcrowding that often means there is only standing room.

Find out more from the KCATA.

As we’ve documented here several times, local suburbs are struggling to keep with surging demand for bus service to/from Downtown Kansas City.  Commuter routes from Johnson County, Liberty, Blue Springs, Lee’s Summit, Independence, etc. are now regularly standing-room-only.  Without a dedicated funding source like KCMO’s transit sales tax, the suburban governments must budget for bus service out of their general funds.
