Speak up for walking and bicycling in the City budget
In these tough economic times it's more important than ever for elected leaders to hear from consituents about the need for investments in walking and bicycling. This weekend the City Council starts holding budget forums across the city, so now is the time to speak up.
1. Send a brief note to your Councilmembers
(KCMO mailing address required)
2. Attend a public budget hearing
and speak up for trail and bike facility maintenance.
Why is this important, even in tough budget times?

- Ensure the safety of people using bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
- Promote health and fitness of Kansas Citians to combat chronic conditions like obesity and diabetes in times of rising health care costs.
- Recreational opportunities and transportation options increase the quality of life in the City and make it more competitive for economic development.
What projects are up for funding this year?
- Crosswalks, curb ramps, and ADA improvements at intersections all over the city.
- Maintenance of existing city trails.
- Extensions of the Line Creek, Riverfront Heritage, and Little Blue Trace Trails.
- Bike lanes on Armour Boulevard and Benton Boulevard.
