Walkability Plan
In the 2003 the City Council adopted a walkability plan, which covered things like sidewalks, crosswalks, traffic signals, etc. It identified areas of the city with deficient or no sidewalks and made recommendations on how to fix the problem.
Unfortunately the city forgot to dust off the walkability plan and consult it when they wrote the new development code. The plan includes some great reccomendations for making Kansas City more walkable. Instead of re-inventing the wheel, let’s implement the plan we already have.
